Salem Witch Museum

Although Salem is remembered for the witch trials, this period only lasted for nine months. The Salem Witch Museum invites visitors to experience the witchcraft hysteria of 1692 by using 13 stage sets to re-enact accusations, trials and executions. During this hysteria in Salem, which was first called Salem Town, 19 people were hanged on Gallows Hill and one was press'd to death under a pile of fieldstone. Today, an inset in the auditorium at the Salem Witch Museum memorializes those whose lives were stripped away by witch hunts.
